The Jazz Ballet Company proudly presents a new work to be performed at the historic Paramount Theater in downtown Austin TX June 8th and 9th 2007.
The Jazz Ballet Company, under the direction of Deidre Russell- Robinson, is a non-profit dance ensemble that brings high quality original work to Austin with an emphasis on multi-culturalism and diversity. The works above all are entertaining and thought provoking, and also attempt to elevate community awareness of the benefit of contemporary ballet and dance in general.
Ms. Robinson, a dancer, teacher, and studio owner, has brought together a young talented group of multi-diciplinary dancers with backgrounds in styles such as hip-hop, jazz, classical ballet, and modern dance techniques. While working with this diverse group she has incorporated each dancers individual style while maintaining a feel for the show that is distinctly contemporary ballet.
The Secret Mirror is based on an original story written by a 13 year old Junior Jazz Ballet Company member about three sisters' journey through time and their surprising adventures.
With music by Prokovious, Faure, Tchaikovsky, Stravinsky and local Austin swing band, The Lucky Strikes.
